The all-new Kuga was recently awarded a five-star crash safety rating by the China New Car Assessment Programme, (C-NCAP). This adds to the five stars it has already received from Euro NCAP, the European equivalent, and A-NCAP, the Australian equivalent.

The all-new Kuga delivered a top-rated performance in all four key criteria: “Frontal impact test against rigid barrier”, “frontal impact test against deformable barrier with 40 percent overlapping”, “side impact test against mobile deformable barrier” and “whiplash”.
To ensure that the all-new Kuga exceeds the toughest global safety standards, Ford conducted more than 5,000virtual and real-world crash tests on the vehicle.

China NCAP’s five-star safety rating for the all-new Kuga confirms the structural excellence of Ford’s global SUV. Ford engineers made extensive use of these ultra-high strength steels in the body structure of the vehicle – it is immensely strong, with nearly 50 percent of the body structure made up of high and ultra-high strength steels, including boron steels.

Passive safety features include a new advanced airbag restraint system with seven airbags – driver and front passenger airbags, side front airbags, and side curtain airbags for front- and rear-seat occupants and driver’s knee airbag, which Kuga brings exclusively to the compact SUV segment.

Also, SYNC’s Emergency Assistance feature is available on the all-new Ford Kuga. The advanced Emergency Assistance feature automatically informs emergency services via a dedicated call centre in the event of an accident and the service is free for the life of the vehicle – the first automaker to do so.

Furthermore, the all-new Kuga also has a string of advanced active safety features including Electronic Stability Program, Hill Launch Assist, Emergency Brake Assist, Anti-Lock Brake System, Active Park Assist, a system which detects an available parking space and automatically steers the vehicle into the space – just with the press of a button; Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), which detects when another vehicle is in the driver’s blind spot and provides a visual alert in the corresponding wing mirror; Active City Stop, a system which applies the brakes when it recognises that a low-speed collision is imminent. Active City Stop can prevent collisions at speeds up to 15 km/h and reduce the severity of impacts at speeds between 15 km/h and 30 km/h.

Since its launch, the all-new Ford Kuga has won the hearts of Chinese consumers in the compact SUV segment with its exceptional driving dynamics, class leading safety performance and smart technologies.
